Flouro
large scale projection
Fluoro arose from the simple find of some twenty industrial fluorescent lights at a demolition site in Fortitude Valley. Initially drawn to the lights as objects in their own right. As the work evolved the lights transformed into something else. The process began with direct play, arrangement and still photography. It became evident that the fluorescent tubing emitted orange, green and blue. Fluoro forms a ‘choreographical' arrangement projecting blue, its place in history significant throughout many cultures. The depiction of light brings an ironic and metaphoric atmosphere to the space, a meditative quality through repetition, pattern and transition. Simply it utilises the wonder of light to transform the ordinary, inspire curiosity, investigation and application of artificial light throughout the commercial and manufacturing world. Light projected by light.
